Talk about turning heads! This Custom BWB Straight Alto Sax is so cool to play. From 20 feet away, it sounds like any other great alto sax. Be aware that as you're playing it, the bell position really changes the playing experience for you, but not for your audience.
And, if you're a tall sax player, this alto doesn't look tiny in your hands.
Sax players know that your mouthpiece makes up about 60% of your sound, The neck is next, responsible for about 25% of your sound. The sax body, in my opinion, only affects about 15% of your sound (provided that it plays in tune and all the keys are in a comfortable position).
With that in mind, we put a top-of-the-line Yamaha V1 neck on this alto and it played exactly the same as the original neck that comes with this sax. It's set up right! They are really amazing horns.
