TRADES WELCOME!
This Bach Strad 239 EL trumpet in D with serial number 368198 was produced during the early Elkhart era when Bach’s craftsmanship was still extremely consistent and closely tied to Vincent Bach’s original designs. It is ready for professional use - and perfect for students heading off to college or top-tier professionals.
This 1979 trumpet is part of the 239‑bell family, one of Bach’s most respected orchestral designs. The 239 bell is a one‑piece hand‑hammered bell known for a big, rich, warm orchestral sound with strong projection. On a D trumpet, the 239 bell has a brilliant, focused, clear tone that is slightly broader than the 229 bell - which is excellent for orchestral parts in Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Schumann. Projection features a strong, ringing upper register, very stable intonation and more warmth than a piccolo trumpet, yet bright enough to soar.
Bach D trumpets are specialty orchestral instruments used for:
- Baroque repertoire
- Classical-era symphonies
- Piccolo-adjacent clarity without the piccolo's extreme resistance
