TRADES WELCOME!
This Gustav Reinhold Uebel Erlbach/Vogtl. 5411 flute just came back from our trusted repair technician where it was professionally adjusted and is ready to go! This flute seals nicely and won't need any adjustments for a long time.
Research dictates that this may be a Boehm (Böhm) flute, which means that it has a cylindrical body and slightly conical headjoint. So, the body of the instrument is the same diameter throughout, while the headjoint is slightly narrower at one end. "Simple system" flutes are the opposite, with a cylindrical headjoint and conical body.
More about Gustav:
Gustav Reinhold Uebel Jr. (1918–1981) took over the woodwind instrument workshop founded in Erlbach in 1910 from his father Gustav Reinhold Uebel Sr. (1873-1960) in 1959. His ancestors were also active in woodwind instrument making. Uebel learned flute making from his father and passed the master craftsman's examination in 1947. In 1972, the workshop became part of the VEB (formerly: PGH) "Sinfonia", it was merged with the Krebs company. The joint company became part of the VEB "B&S" ("Brass and Signal Instruments") as "Flötenbau Erlbach", the brand "Gust. Reinh. Uebel" continued to be used. The Uebel flutes were also popular school flutes in West Germany in the 70s and 80s. The concert flutes built in the Saxon tradition (silver-plated and silver-headed) were inexpensive and carefully manufactured. A striking distinguishing feature of the concert flutes was the long plug connection on the foot piece, where the D sharp tone hole led through the plug connection. In addition to concert flutes made of metal, concert flutes made of wood and metal piccolos were built. In the last years before reunification, the Uebel company purchased semi-finished parts from Hammig and assembled them in its own company. In 1991, the West German company W. Schreiber & Söhne took over this part of the company in order to have clarinets applied here; flute making was discontinued.
