This beautiful, fully overhauled vintage Buffet professional R13 wood clarinet in Bb just received a fresh overhaul. The serial number indicates it was manufactured in 1959 during the Buffet ‘Golden Era’.

This ‘Golden era’ Buffet clarinet is coveted and sought after by professionals because of the quality of the Grenadilla wood used in 1959. The wood was allowed to air dry for 20+ years, ensuring that the clarinet was made of the finest grade, very hard, dense and naturally dark wood which resists cracking. In contrast, modern clarinet makers must accommodate higher volumes of production, so the wood used for the current models is kiln-dried, less dense and is stained black to hide imperfections.
