This SBA is from the estate of Charlie Almieda, a Brevard County and DC-area saxophone legend as well as a member of the very first Airmen of Note sax section.
Charlie played this alto until he was 94yrs old. Charlie is our personal saxophone superhero.
This SBA alto has been adjusted to seal well - and it sounds great! However, we recommend a full overhaul. There is a crack in the lower bow (see photo) which has been temporarily sealed. Most of the pads are nearing the end of their useful life. Charlie played the hell out of it. It's time for a good repair tech to put some hell back into it.
This alto is available with Charlie's 1954 MKVI alto neck for $2999 or with an SBA reproduction neck for $2199. The SBA repro neck fits a little better than the MKVI neck and plays better in tune.
Here's a chance to own a great SBA for a total investment under $5000 (after a recommended overhaul and metal work from Tampa's great Steve Bockus - my recommended tech for full sax overhauls.)
Thanks for looking! Trades are welcome!
